Long time, no update....

Well, after finding out that I need sinus surgery and being a bit overwhelmed by life, I've totally neglected this blog...again! Goodness!

On the brightside, the quarter is almost over and I've survived. I hope to do more sewing [I was working on a Middie dress pattern for a while] and photos during holiday break. Unfortunately, I'll also be having surgery at the end of this month...so we'll see how well that all works out.

In other news, there's another Ohio Blythe Meet in Beavercreek, Ohio this Saturday. I'm rather excited! Maybe I'll get a few photos posted before I leave for a trip the following Monday.

On a related note, I've been on rather the LPS Petite kick lately. They're small and easy to find, most of the time. Needless to say, a proper family photo of all my LPS ones needs done soon.

However...here are a few recent photos until then!

Happy Labor Day!

I apologize for the lack of updates. I'm starting at a new, bigger university this week and trying to get everything in place has been time consuming. Transfer paperwork can be a bit of a pain.

However! I promise more updates on a more regular basis.

Anywho, Aurora and I wopuld like to wish everyone a Happy Labor Day!

Til next time,

7/30/11 Blythe Meet!

I love Blythe meets! I love the chance to make new friends with the same hobby and I love to see other dolls in person. So, I was pretty excited about organizing a Blythe Meet this past month.

We had a great time at Buca di Beppo's in Worthington, Ohio and the waitress we had was so patient. It was fantastic!

A huge thanks to everyone for coming! I had a wonderful time and can't wait for out next Blythe Meet.

Til we Meet again,

BlytheCon 2012: I'm attending!

I'm attending!

Yes, that's right! My mom and I both pre-registered for BlytheCon 2012.

I'm already excited and need to work on finding some Texan attire for my dolls, myself, and my mom.

Now, to book the hotel and check out flights. I'm so excited!

See y'all in Texas,

Middie Blythe: Warning, Cuter Then They Appear

Alright, I admit, when they announced the arrival of these "Middie Blythe" dolls, I was skeptical. Yes, I do love a tiny doll and while I adore my Kenners, they can be a boat load of doll to tote around.

After reading tons of 'They're cuter in person!' comments, I knew I needed a Middie. So I bought the new anniversary girl, Cherish Me Always, and my mom bought Little Lily Brown.

While I haven't had much time or decent weather for photos, I must say...I'm smitten! They're small and far cuter in person than I imagined. Finding clothes is rather fun because even if the clothes are a bit large, it's kind of adorable.

Takara, I know have another Blythe obsession. Oy! It doesn't help that my mom loves dark haired dolls and purple...and the August Middie release has dark curly hair and purple eyes.

Off to find a Macaron Q-Tea Middie,

Introducing...Frankie the FrankenKenner.

Recently, I did something a bit crazy: I bought a Kenner in terrible shape that only has blurry photos on the listing. Somehow, she was still charming enough to purchase. I wasn't sure how she'd clean up because I wasn't sure of exatly what she looked like...

Before

After she arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. While her legs and body were a hot mess, her face is nothing short of fantastic. I took off the pink 'body' and found a block of wood, no arms or legs, and 5 nails that needed removed. Much to my surprised, I was able to remove the 5 (yes, FIVE) nails that help a block of wood to her upper torso. It took a little work but thanks to the most generous Marilyn (emptynest) and the friendly Jen (Genova), she now has a fully Kenner body. She's made of around 6 different Kenners. Her arms and legs gave me a good fight but finally gave in and now fit her perfectly.

The Evolution of Frankie.

Frankie's hair still needs work but she's come a long way and I couldn't be happier with her!

Introducing...

Off to sew for my (hopefully!) soon arriving Middie Blythe,

In which I remember that I have a blog.

I admit, I got caught up in my college graduation madness and didn't update this blog much...at all.

So! I'm back and determined to make more posts and hopefully post a few photos, as well.

I'm organizing an upcoming Blythe meet in Columbus, Ohio in the next few weeks, so hopefully I can post some photos and gush about that. I love meets! I have a lot of fun going and seeing other people and their dolls. My mom typically goes and comes back with another blythe doll that she wants. She did so at the last meet and at BlytheCon '09.

Speaking of BlytheCon...I did miss this year's but instead I bought a new Kenner with a crazy body. Someone had attached a block of wood then a layer of foam and cloth to make a doll "body". She's being restored to her former Kenner glory now though.

Hips don't lie?

Anyway, I missed BlytheCon but I did participate in an online BlytheCon with webcam and chat. It was so much!

Promising to update much sooner than last time,

The Birthday Present.

For my twenty-second birthday I did something a bit outrageous: I bought myself a Kenner Blythe.

She's in wonderful condition but will need a little repair work on her bangs, nothing I can't do. I'm very excited to report that I now have a Blythe with every hair style, of every hair color, that was produced. So that's really exciting! I'll probably taking some comparison photos when I have time and when there's some good lighting.

I've ventured into buying a few of the Littlest Pet Shop Petites "Pet sitters" and I must say, I like them a lot. It's a tiny Blythe doll you can take with you anywhere. Personally, I couldn't care less about the pets they come with but the teeny converse shoes have won me over.

In Flickr/photo news, I've taken up the 52 Weeks of Blythe challenge. I know I'd fail at a 365 photo a day challenge but I think I can handle one photo a week. It's going to force me to be creative and make sure to take photos more often, which I'm so excited about. I miss taking photos!

Until next time,
Blythetastic!

New Year, New Blog.

Yes, it's the obligatory introduction post. Not the most fascinating but I'll try to keep it interesting!

So I've been tossing around the idea of making a doll, specifically Blythe, related blog for a while. I tried to make one on another blog site and I just ended up ditching it. I didn't use it and I didn't like the layout as much. So, with the new year, I've decided to start anew.

My name is Becca and I'm a rather avid doll collector. My great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother all have collected dolls, so it was pretty natural for me to start collecting dolls, too. I found Blythe 2007 and I was hooked. Previously, I had seen photos of these fantastic and big eyed dolls online but never knew their name. One day, I finally found out what they were called and before long, I had a French Trench Blythe from Ebay on her way to me. From then on, I've collected quite a few more Takaras and not have many Kenners, Petites, and Littlest Pet Shop Blythes, as well. I hope to get a Middie Blythe soon! So far, I have one doll of all the face molds except FBL and Middie. [You can guess what I'm going to be saving up for.]

So...yeah. I'm not as active on Flickr or the forums as I used to be [due to school and work], however I'm far from bored with this hobby!

Til next time,
Becca.
